"Understanding the past to understand the present..."

We are a young family business that was born in 1999 with the planting of 35 hectares of vineyards in the Municipality of Quintanilla de Arriba, in the area known as the "Golden Mile" of the Ribera del Duero, a privileged Spanish area for the production of wines. high quality reds, due to its particular climate, soils and its important history.

The beginnings were times of learning and enthusiasm and soon the specialized critics and numerous prizes in different competitions indicated that we were going on the right path.

But in Lynus there is no time for accommodation, the creation of new wines, the construction of our own winery in the town of Quintanilla de Arriba, the planting of new vineyards and the incorporation into the winery of the new generations of the family are some of the new challenges we have faced in recent years.

At Lynus we look to the future with enthusiasm, knowing above all that our philosophy will always prevail, to be a small winery in which tradition and modernity are founded, claiming respect for traditional craftsmanship without rejecting the contribution of new knowledge, and that this beautiful form understanding viticulture can be reflected in the creation of high quality and exclusive wines.

Our vineyards are located on the terraces of the Duero, in soils of tertiary origin formed by the sedimentary deposits of the Duero River. These soils are made up of highly permeable fine material and limestone rocks with a pH greater than 8.2. The climate is marked by low rainfall (450 mm), dry and hot summers and long winters, as well as marked temperature fluctuations during critical periods such as veraison and grape ripening.

At Lynus, in order to obtain quality wines, we consider it necessary to have perfect knowledge of the soils and climatic characteristics of the areas where the vines are grown, since depending on their qualities, fruits with different nuances will be obtained. This knowledge enables us to create exclusive wines with personality, since we believe that, through the combination of the grapes obtained in the different areas, despite being laborious work, we will obtain the best possible wines. In our vineyard area we distinguish three zones, three "Pagos", which provide the vines with different nuances and potentialities. They are the following:

• Plot Los Cipreses located at 820 m above sea level, its north-south orientation avoids the mid-afternoon sun on summer days. Its whitish and stony soil gives it greatness and at the same time makes it difficult to work. In this plot we obtain strong, inky and fruity grapes, the result of slow and powerful ripening.
• Las Encinas plot its considerable altitude of 880 m above sea level, in the highest part of the second terrace of the Duero, results in late and powerful ripening. 7 hectares with East-West orientation.
• Los Nogales plot located at an altitude of 880 meters above sea level, with poor limestone soil at its highest point and more fertile, clayey soil at the foot of the slope.

Our winery is located in the municipality of Quintanilla de Arriba. Currently, our annual production is around 60,000 bottles and our vinifications are characterized by combining tradition and modernity, claiming respect for artisan tradition without rejecting the contribution of new knowledge. We believe in a segmentation of the vinifications starting from our vineyard, seeking harmony and the expression of the peculiarities of our "pagos": Roldan, El Moro and Cachapuz, all of them planted with the Tempranillo grape variety, also known as Tinto Fino.

It is conceived in the most absolute respect for the environment, seeking sustainability and being able to provide the best conditions for those grapes that will end up becoming our wines at every moment of the production process.
